Business Objectives
Bjorn Lunden was on a mission to unify authentication across its growing suite of financial and business software products. As customer demand increased, particularly from larger organizations and international markets, the company needed a secure and scalable identity platform that could support consistent login experiences everywhere.
They also aimed to reduce reliance on region-specific methods like BankID, a widely used App2App authentication method in Sweden. They wanted a unified approach that could work across multiple countries and customer segments, and support clear answers to requirements around data handling, regulatory expectations and where services are operated.
Search for a New Solution
The team began researching modern ways to strengthen and future-proof their authentication flows. The importance of long-term stability played a central role. The goal was to adopt an identity and access management solution that evolves with industry standards so that the team could focus on their core business rather than deep identity engineering.
Robert van Seggelen, Senior Software Developer at Bjorn Lunden:
It feels like we’ll always be ahead of the curve with Curity. When new technologies evolve, we know they’ll be implemented and we can simply enable them.
Much of Bjorn Lunden’s infrastructure already ran on Elastx, a Swedish cloud provider offering a fully managed, transparent Kubernetes platform. Curity’s ability to deploy anywhere meant it could be introduced without disrupting this setup, giving the team a modern identity platform that fit smoothly into their existing environment.
Unified Identity Platform Across Products
Bjorn Lunden went live with Curity for their flagship product Lundify. Curity now provides a single authentication endpoint for users, supported by the Token Handler pattern to secure browser flows and simplify client-side work.
Internally, teams confidently rely on Curity’s documentation and expertise of the Professional Services team. Bjorn Lunden are certain that this consistency will be crucial as more products are powered by the Curity Identity Server. The modernization journey includes enabling single sign-on across their full product suite and supporting enterprise customers that require seamless identity integration with their internal IT setups.
They are also enabling external partners to onboard more efficiently. Through Curity’s Dynamic Client Registration, third-party integrators will be able to create and manage their own OAuth clients without the Bjorn Lunden team handling secrets manually - an efficiency gain that will scale as their ecosystem grows.
Supporting Compliance and Operational Control with Elastx and Curity
With Elastx as their cloud platform and Curity as their identity solution, Bjorn Lunden demonstrates how European businesses can build secure and modern services with clear operational control over their infrastructure and authentication.
While not the starting point of their strategy, this architecture now enables them to meet increasing customer expectations around regional hosting requirements and compliance.
The combination of Elastx and Curity shows that companies can build robust, scalable and compliant services using local cloud infrastructure and open standards while still delivering world-class user experiences.
Joakim Öhman, CEO, Elastx:
Bjorn Lunden shows that you don’t need to rely on global platforms to build great products. With Elastx and Curity, they get the performance and security they need, plus the freedom to stay in control.
Clear Impact Across the Organization
Curity has significantly reduced the internal burden of maintaining and updating authentication flows. Engineering teams can now focus on core product development while relying on a standards-driven platform that evolves with new protocols and technologies.
Equally important, the joint Curity + Elastx foundation gives the company the flexibility and robustness needed to support enterprise expansion. Larger customers expect advanced flows, strong SSO capabilities and standards-based integration - all of which the team can now deliver confidently.
Next, the company plans to integrate authentication more tightly into their mobile app. By relying on the Curity’s support for verifiable credentials, they aim to create even better experiences for their customers.
Robert van Seggelen, Senior Software Developer at Björn Lunden:
We are confident that all our new projects needing authentication will use Curity.
Results
With the Curity Identity Server running on Elastx in full production, Bjorn Lunden now operates a modern, secure and scalable identity platform that supports international expansion and provides a solid foundation for enterprise growth. Their teams can focus on improving and innovating their core products, knowing that authentication is handled by a platform built for the future and hosted on infrastructure designed for resilience and local control.
