dmTECH secures online sales

dm-drogerie markt, a popular drugstore retailer across Europe, operates a network of over 3,800 retail outlets employing more than 66,000 people. It offers a wide selection of facial and body care products, health and hygiene articles, cosmetics and perfumes, food, baby care, baby clothes and baby food, household items, photo products, and pet goods. dmTECH, the IT subsidiary of dm-drogerie markt, develops powerful technologies for all areas of dm-drogerie markt, like the online shop dm.de, checkout systems, the my dm app, applications for employees, process automation, logistics systems, and much more. With more than 1,000 people employed and growing, they aim to deliver the best solutions for their customers.

Business Objectives

With the retail industry going through a rapid digital transformation over recent years, dmTECH – the IT subsidiary of dm-drogerie markt – went on a journey to develop intelligent solutions for their online shop and other digital services.

This created a need for a modern identity and access management system that would allow dmTECH to establish strong security and provide a great user experience to drive dm-drogerie markt’s business. The new solution had to be flexible, powerful to cope with large-scale user demand, and easily integrated with other technologies in place.

Selection and Solution

After careful consideration of SaaS and non-SaaS solutions and a thorough selection process, dmTECH chose Curity as their ideal platform for several reasons. dmTECH found that the Curity Identity Server was a highly configurable solution with wide deployment options and great flexibility that allowed smooth integration with their CRM. Another important feature was the support of a mature staging mechanism following a “no change-policy” in production and GIT integrated change control.

Felix Schad, Team Manager Customer Account:

There are two major reasons why Curity is an excellent choice for us. First, Curity itself gets the job done and secures our digital products and services. Second, Curity offers great developer experience and a lot of freedom, without unnecessary complicatedness, so that the developers can focus their time on building great products and services for our customers.

Results

Curity now protects dmTECH’s digital services, playing an important role in the fast-growing business of dm-drogerie markt. Since September 2021, the Curity Identity Server provides consistent, secure, and smooth authentication experiences for their customers in a standards-based manner.

dmTECH is very pleased with the stability of the Curity Identity Server, the product’s technical capabilities and customization options. Knowing they have a stable solution in place offers peace of mind. It also allows them to concentrate on developing new digital services for customers and evolving the business, knowing that the Curity Identity Server will be able to handle authentication and any possible future integrations.

dmTECH is also impressed by the technical expertise of the Curity team, outstanding communication and excellent handling of the log4j security vulnerability that made Curity #1 vendor for the company.

On any questions we have, the Curity support is spot on and assists our team in an exemplary way.

Curity's flexibility and powerful extension options allow us to integrate custom applications and implement more sophisticated patterns and workflows for authentication and authorization without leaving the ecosystem of the IAM system.
